ReflectingYOU
A collective portrait experience that reveals the connections between people.
ReflectingYOU is a people-centred photography project that transforms groups into collective portraits. It focuses on human connection, using photography as a shared space.
Working with communities, organisations, schools, and institutions, ReflectingYOU creates visual narratives that reflect how individuals exist within a collective — distinct, present, and connected.
What
ReflectingYOU is a socially engaged art project that explores human connection through collective portraiture.
Participants are photographed in pairs, sharing the same photographic space. The portraits are relational by nature: they exist through proximity, presence, and encounter. The work emphasises how people appear in relation to one another.
As the process unfolds, the portraits connect to form a continuous visual chain. Over time, this chain becomes a collective image — a shared representation of the group as a whole.
The outcome is a collective image in which individuality thrives while connection becomes central.
How
ReflectingYOU unfolds as a shared photographic process.
People take part in pairs. Two participants stand together and are photographed simultaneously, using a mirror that allows them to appear within the same image. Each portrait is created in camera, without post-production.
As the photo shoot progresses, each paired portrait naturally connects to the next. The visual chain emerges during the session itself, shaped by participation and sequence.
The result is a collective portrait formed through encounter.
